The Equinox 900 is a multi-frequency all-rounder from Minelab. 'Multi-frequency' means it runs several frequencies at once instead of just one, so a single machine copes with coins, relics (old buried objects), the beach and gold-hunting. It's fully waterproof and submersible to 5 m, so wet ground and shallow water are no trouble, and it comes with two search coils and wireless headphones in the box. It's one of the more capable detectors around rather than the cheapest first machine, and one of the most popular in Australia, the sort you keep for years.
