The search coil is the flat disc at the end of your detector that scans the ground and picks up metal. This is a smaller replacement coil — 10 by 5 inches and elliptical — that swaps onto the Minelab Equinox in place of the bigger coil it comes with. A small coil like this reads the ground more precisely, so it's easier to pick a good target out from nearby junk (old nails, bottle caps) and to hear tiny pieces the standard coil sweeps straight past. It fits the Minelab Equinox series (600/700/800/900).
